When usable fabric is dumped or burned, the energy, water, dyes and labour already invested in it are also wasted. Synthetic textiles can persist for decades and may release microfibres as they break down.
Keeping surplus material in productive use reduces avoidable disposal and delays demand for newly manufactured fabric.
